Technologies and Home Economics (Cooking)
This year was the first time that we have run the same cooking lessons from grade 1 to 6. The primary focus of these sessions was hygiene, utensil handling and communication. Students are now consistently demonstrating effective handwashing practices with support by staff before engaging in any cooking activities. This improvement not only promotes hygiene but also sets a strong foundation for food safety.
Students have been guided one-on-one every cooking session on how to handle kitchen utensils and equipment safely. This minimises the risk of accidents and promoting a secure cooking environment. Encouraging students to taste and enjoy the meals they’ve prepared has been an important part of building their confidence and connecting with their accomplishments.
As we continue this journey, we remain committed to improving our approach and finding innovative ways to further enhance the cooking experience for all our students in East Victoria Park education support centre.
