Sustainability & Garden

At EVPESC, we take great pride in our expanding Sustainability and Garden program. Our fenced garden features four large beds, two of which are dedicated to growing seasonal fruits and vegetables. This space provides students with the opportunity to engage hands-on in nurturing and caring for the garden.

Students from upper primary classes are the primary caretakers, responsible for maintaining the garden, tidying up, collecting compost bins from each classroom, and harvesting fruits and vegetables. The produce is then used in our Tuck Shop or as part of our Lifeskills and Cooking programs.

Twice a year, we host a Working Busy Bee event, inviting students, parents, carers, and staff to come together to help refresh and revitalise the garden.

We also promote sustainability through the use of reusable materials and minimise waste by recycling. Our Containers for Change program further supports these efforts, with all funds raised going toward the upkeep of the garden, and we reduce waste by composting as much as possible.
